I read The Son of Man 2 just as quickly and with just as much enthusiasm as the first book. The story has me entranced and I can only continue onward to book 3.While the characters are developing before my eyes, I must admit that I felt a little distaste for Todd and Maria as I started into book 2. She seemed so......I'm not sure of the right word to use but I was definitely not on board with her being a continuing part of the story...and Todd's character was still continuing to give off a pathetic naive role within the storyline.
It may sound as though I do not enjoy reading this series. But that is far from the truth!!! I am ready to go further into the story of Joshua and Lyla.

This tale has me hook line and sinker! Absolutely as much of a page turner as the first book. Now it's on to book 3. I'm hesitant to give any details of this story so as not to ruin any of the twists or turns it takes, so l will only say this, do yourself a favor and give this story a try, I promise you won't be disappointed!
What if we could clone the wisest person in history? Would you do it? Should we do it? Would you want to be the parents of this baby? Would you be strong enough to put his best interests in front of your own desires? Could I? Only with God's help!
I picked this book up at 10 p.m. and thought I would just read it for 30 minutes before falling asleep. I finally looked up at the clock at 5 in the morning, after turning the last page. It has been a very long time since I have read a series that has kept me as intrigued as The Son of Man books, by C. W. Johnson. He is an incredible writer with the unusual skill of drawing a reader in and moving the story along so that you don't even realize that you have moved through it's pages. I would highly recommend this series and believe that any comment on here that is less than 5 stars is because the reader went in with a preconceived idea about what they thought this story was going to be about. The beauty of this book series is how fresh and original it is, rather than a regurgitation of something that we have already seen again and again. If you understand that and set aside what you think this book is most likely going to be, then you will not be dissapointed with the mesmerizing story that unfolds within its pages!
As the second in a series of three (or more?) short novels, TSoM2 admirably advances the narratives of both the core tale and the various subplots in this series' SF variation of the "end times" apocalypse foretold in "Revelations". The author's plotting, foreshadowing/clue hiding, and literary style are a cut above the average found in today's self-publishing writers. The occasional flaws in grammar, vocabulary and flow are inconsequential and would have been ferreted out by a publishing house's more extensive editorial and proofing processes.
Part two of this series was just as good as part one, for some of the same reasons. Inventive and well-paced, the book picks up the story thread, introduces a new one or two, and dips it's toe into other genres as well (a bit of romance, even). Johnson writing style is "easy to read" but not adolescent, and his characters become people you care about. Unlike the first part, this one IS a bit of a cliff-hanger, so if you buy this book, you better just buy part 3 at the same time. You are NOT going to want to wait long in between, at least I didn't.
This second book in the series focused more on the characters than the progression of the overall plot. Even with that I still couldn't put it down. The author brings out his characters almost better then anyone i have ever read. The line of religion this series takes is pretty broad but mainly sticks to the themes of Christianity for its base. The Mormon, as well as the Islamic religion is also talked about.
all in all i liked this book. it makes u think. again as in the first book there are sexual themes littered thru out the book. this book is a religious themed story but it does not shy away from the secular world. if u have a sensitive mind set on what is considered religious fiction u might not want to read this.
i have also read the third book i give it four stars as well.
Someone else said this was the "Empire Strikes Back" version of the series, and I have to agree with that analogy in some respects. This book made some events from the first one make a lot more sense and has completely hooked me on the series. It's shorter than the first one, or maybe it seemed like it was shorter because it ended just when it was really getting good! I got so caught up that I immediately bought the third one and read it all that same day.
Character motivations all start to make more sense as does some of the ambiguity I thought other characters had. I still felt like some of the subplots were a little involved, but I see now why they were necessary in the first place. If you were unsure how you felt after reading the first one, as I was, definitely read this one. It really served as a great bridge to the third and made me want the fourth one to come out NOW!!!
